SRC launch Clinical Correspondence solution
London, 3 August 2010 – SRC, a UK provider of clinical information and document creation solutions, today announced the launch of a web-based Clinical Correspondence solution, which has already been successfully deployed at two NHS Trusts. The new solution has been developed in partnership with Bluewire Technologies.
The user-friendly solution enables NHS organisations to create, manage and control documents throughout the entire process from original draft to issuing approved letters and documents. The new solution also includes online features that speed-up the document review and approval processes, as well as providing options for delivering letters and documents to GP’s and other recipients.
The new solution is the direct result of customer feedback, which revealed that customers wanted a holistic solution, that extended the cost-savings and efficiencies provided by digital dictation and speech recognition, to other areas of the document creation process.
Colin Howman, Director at SRC said: “Our research showed that it’s no longer just about digital dictation. Customers want a flexible solution, which can address the challenges of template management, electronic document approval and safe storage and distribution.”
Adding: “This means linking technologies and systems to automate tasks, which improve patient safety and enable accurate documents to be sent quickly, easily and cost-effectively. This is exactly what our new industry-defining solution delivers for customers, distinguishing us from other digital dictation providers.”
The Clinical Correspondence solution synchronises with the hospital Patient Administration Systems (PAS), enabling clinicians and users access to up-to-date patient details. As a result of linking with the PAS, document templates can be automatically populated with patient, hospital and GP information. In addition clinicians can use the Powersearch feature to instantly access patient, hospital and GP details and view drafted and completed letters and documents.
The solution fully integrates with the WinScribe digital dictation system supplied by SRC, enabling clinicians to record and send dictations to available typing resource, in the most efficient way possible.
The Clinical Correspondence solution can also import existing letters and documents for storage and subsequent viewing. This feature can also be extended to handle scanned documents from existing paper versions of patient records.
At each stage of the process users have full access and visibility to documents, dictations and information about how work is progressing. Once the typing stage is completed, documents are instantly able to edit, review and approve. Approved letters can then be issued electronically to GPs and also printed. The solution also provides full auditing and reporting tools.
Chris Hart, CEO at SRC said: “This is a powerful, cost-effective solution that is proven to help customers remove the frustration, time and costs involved in managing documents. By integrating our leading digital dictation solution with a new web-based document management system, we believe we are able to offer customers a unique solution that enables them to drive efficiencies way beyond just digital dictation or anything they will have previously used.”
The Clinical Correspondence solution is part of SRC’s Clinical Information Toolkit, which is developed by leading software provider Bluewire Technologies. The modular solution can be easily and cost-effectively extended to include electronic Discharge Summary (eDS), drugs management, patient handover and bed management functionality and is licensed based on the functionality being used.
