Improved efficiencies and future integration leads Eric Potter Clarkson to SRC WinScribe Digital dictation system

London, 31 May 2007 – SRC, a leading provider of Digital Dictation and Speech Recognition solutions, today announced the firm wide roll-out of the WinScribe Digital Dictation system to leading European Patents and Trademarks experts, Eric Potter Clarkson LLP. The move to digital dictation follows Eric Potter Clarkson’s successful trial of the SRC WinScribe system, which highlighted the many inefficiencies of the existing tape-based system that had previously been accepted by staff. The decision to adopt the SRC WinScribe solution was made well in advance of the end of the trial and will now be used across all main service groups.

With more than 40 professional staff at Eric Potter Clarkson set to benefit, the WinScribe system will provide a much needed document workflow system providing fee earners and secretaries with real-time visibility on dictations and transcriptions. “The system provides Patent and Trademark professionals and secretaries with information that was not available with tapes. They know their dictations have been automatically sent to the correct group of secretaries and can see how their work is progressing,” commented, Philip Morris, Deputy General Manager at Eric Potter Clarkson. “Secretaries can view the length of dictations as well as priority dictations and so manage their work load far more efficiently,” he added.

Philip continued: “Technology has always been an area of strong focus for us and it was time we harnessed the power of digital dictation for our document production,” said Philip Morris. “The SRC WinScribe solution is a bridge to enable our professionals and secretaries to work together better, to ensure document turnaround times are met and, as a result, improve efficiencies.”

Before turning to SRC, the exclusive WinScribe Platinum Partner, Eric Potter Clarkson conducted a through evaluation of competitor solutions. Philip concluded: “we decided on the SRC WinScribe system because it provided us with a future proof platform which can support integration with our other internal systems, remote access via Citrix, and speech recognition when required. WinScribe also have a considerable record in bringing value-added innovations to the marketplace, coupled with leadership in their partnership with Citrix.”

Within this roll-out SRC will provide Eric Potter professionals with a range of devices, including the Philips Speech Mike hand held microphones. Once dictations have been completed the WinScribe Intelligent Workflow Management system automatically routes dictations to the appropriate secretarial resource for typing. The solution also provides real-time management information on the status of work. The SRC implemented solution prioritises the firm’s dictations to ensure target turnaround times are met and that documents are returned to clients as quickly as possible.

“The system has been universally accepted, with all users quickly finding it easy to use. Secretaries in particular have commented on the improved sound quality which improves typing accuracy, with the ability to view and prioritise work being a great improvement over the old system” added Philip.

Chris Hart, CEO SRC. “This win confirms our market leadership in the patents profession, with 50% of the top dozen firms using the WinScribe system. Having already implemented our dictation and document creation solutions in over 250 professional services firms, we are now seeing increased interest in the patent sector, as firms look to improve productivity of secretarial support staff, better support remote and home working and provide customers with better client service.”
