Combining digital dictation with speech recognition technology takes document creation productivity to new levels, reducing document turnaround times and enabling significant reductions in support costs. WinScribe is the first digital dictation system to be fully integrated with speech recognition, providing a flexible solution for all organisations.

Digital dictation with integrated Speech Recognition enables dictations to by automatically transcribed in one of two ways:

Server (sometime referred to as background) speech recognition
WinScribe Server Speech Recognition allows recordings dictated via the WinScribe interface, a telephone or mobile handheld recorder to be automatically transcribed using the latest speech recognition technology.

WinScribe uses its Intelligent Work Management system to match the recorded dictation with an appropriate recognition profile and dictionary, allowing the speech recognition rate to be substantially increased. To ensure ongoing improvement in recognition, WinScribe also processes the completed document to automatically add unknown words and phrases to the dictionary. Transcription or secretarial staff don’t need to transcribe the document, but instead proof read the recognised text, correcting any errors as they go. This enables users to work more productively and improve the turnaround speed of work.

With WinScribe’s optional text processing module, recognised text can even be preformatted prior to proof reading to further enhance productivity.

Desktop (sometime referred to as foreground) speech Recognition
WinScribe desktop speech recognition allows authors to dictate via a headset (or other input devices, such as the Philips SpeechMike II) directly into their PC with their words automatically transcribed on screen.

This solution is ideally suited to authors who currently create their own documents or do not have access to secretarial support. As this solution is fully integrated with WinScribe it provides full Workflow Management and the ability to send dictated text to secretaries.

Both approaches can be deployed in parallel to the WinScribe digital dictation platform.
